The world’s largest producer of dairy products, Nestlé, has announced a new brand of vegan milk.
Nestlé India said the new brand, called Novella, is aimed at consumers looking for an alternative to the standard milk products available in supermarkets.
Novello, which is named after the Italian word for “cats”, has an extra dose of vitamin C. “We have always been committed to delivering the highest quality and highest nutritional value of milk, dairy and cheese products in India,” Nestlé chief executive Tom Wiesenthal said.
“The Novellas Dairy Milk, a premium quality brand that combines the best of Novelli and Novelleri, is a natural addition to our global portfolio.”
“It is the perfect way to introduce our customers to a fresh vegan option.”
“The brand is designed to appeal to consumers looking to reduce the amount of dairy and dairy products they consume,” said Nestlé’s India head of product marketing and innovation, Gaurav Kothari.
“With its unique blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it provides a unique nutritional profile for the palate and also for the health and wellbeing of the animals used in its production.”
The Novelette Milk will be available in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe from mid-September.
The company said it will also roll out the new Noveletta in India in the next few weeks.
Nestle India said Novelly has been developed to meet the nutritional needs of the global market, and that it had been in testing for several months to ensure the milk’s ingredients were safe and nutritionally complete.
